Our Story
Back in 2016, fate brought Jack and Morgan together on what would be the beginning of their beautiful love story. Their first date arrived, and little did Jack know that it was Morgan’s first date ever, leaving her feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. When he picked her up at her house, he was trying to muster the courage to face her protective father, Frank. Luckily, he wasn't home at the time.
The adventure began with a thrilling ride in Jack's "trusty" Nissan Xterra, “Ole Faithful.” They set out for an afternoon of mudding, eager to enjoy the great outdoors. However, untrue to its name, the Xterra didn’t quite deliver as planned—they ended up getting stuck in the mud for quite some time!
In a moment that felt straight out of a high school love story movie, Jack offered Morgan his Letterman jacket to keep her warm. As he draped it over her shoulders, she felt like the star of the show, her heart racing with excitement. Unfortunately, after the date, both of them were left with a nagging feeling of uncertainty—Morgan thought Jack didn’t like her and that he was too cool for her (even though she secretly had the biggest crush on him), while Jack felt he had ruined the date due to their muddy mishap. Three days later, in a somewhat awkward attempt to regain some semblance of normalcy, Jack asked for his jacket back, and they didn’t speak again for 7 years.
That was until a chilly December night, just three days before Christmas, when fate decided to intervene once more. They reunited at Prime, and as soon as they saw each other, the spark was undeniable. Once they started talking, it felt like no time had passed. Morgan cleverly used the classic line, “I think my tire is low on air; could you help me out?” and to her delight, it worked like a charm!
After texting back and forth for several days, they arranged their first official date at Prime on December 27. Jack had already told his whole family about Morgan during the holidays right after their reunion, knowing she was someone special. It was during this date that they both learned they were perfectly made for each other—two puzzle pieces fitting together effortlessly. Their laughter filled the air, and every moment spent together only solidified their growing connection.
Over the next week, they spent every moment they could together, soaking up every second before Jack had to return to Texas. Since Jack loved to make everything feel like a scene from a movie, he perfectly timed their first kiss to happen on New Year's Eve, just as the clock struck midnight. When it was time to part ways, they eagerly embraced the challenge of long-distance love, making it work seamlessly for five months. They knew their love was worth every mile, and they were committed to making it work. Fun fact: they have never spent a night apart! Every night apart, they would fall asleep on FaceTime, waking up together the next morning, sharing their dreams and their lives from miles apart. The first night apart will be the night before their wedding!
After countless late-night chats, 32-hour phone calls, and just hanging out together in spirit, they found themselves diving into wedding planning and even baby naming just a month in! They managed to see each other twice a month, meeting in both Texas and Connecticut. Their connection only grew stronger with each visit, and they even embarked on a road trip up the coast together to move in together in May. Living with your best friend truly is pure bliss!
In July, Jack asked Morgan to join him in his work, which was a wonderful new adventure for them both. Amidst the hustle and bustle of business chaos, they decided to plan a literal “do nothing” weekend, literally it was in their calendars as "DO NOTHING!" One Friday, Jack looked at Morgan and said, “If you’d love to come to the job with me, we can leave soon… or you can pack a bag for the weekend.” To her surprise, he whisked her away to an off-grid log cabin on a serene lake in Old Lyme! That weekend was pure magic. They hiked through the beautiful scenery, snuggled up by the crackling fire, built Legos, made s’mores, and watched 80s Halloween movies. Morgan’s phone died that weekend, and she didn’t charge it until Sunday afternoon—it was a digital detox filled with pure bliss.
As they packed up to leave on Sunday morning October 6th at 10:33AM, Morgan was carrying a carton of milk and a box of Welch’s Fruit Snacks when Jack paused her. “No, let’s sit on the porch and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature for a few more minutes.” He gently took the items from her hands and pulled her in for a warm, comforting hug. Morgan placed her hand on Jack's chest and said "your heart is racing right now are you okay?" Jack replied "I just ran the trash cans around the house, I'm winded!" to throw her off. Wrapped in his arms, with her head nestled in his neck, Morgan looked at Jack, tears in her eyes, and said, “This was the best weekend ever; it was so wholesome, and I couldn’t think of anything that could make it any better.”
In that perfect moment, Jack dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him—turning an already unforgettable weekend into a historic one! The answer was a resounding “yes,” and now here they are, ready to celebrate their love and the journey that brought them to this moment. They can't wait to share the most important moment of their love story with all of you, exactly a year after they got engaged.
